Our Story

A Family. A Practice. Since 1981.

Rooted in Tradition. Dedicated to the Practice.

Founded in 1981 by Grand Master Jiho Choi

History

Established in 1981, Jiho Choi Taekwondo Institute has evolved from its beginnings in West New York to its home in Basking Ridge today — a family-owned school shaped by generations of practice, teaching, and deep respect for the art of Taekwondo.

An 8th Dan Black Belt, Grand Master Jiho Choi founded Jiho Choi Taekwondo Institute in 1981 to share traditional Taekwondo in a disciplined, welcoming environment. He has since served as head instructor for the Princeton University Taekwondo program since 1986 and trained cadets at the United States Military Academy at West Point since 2001. He is at the school daily.
